Prof. Joseph Nketiah Berchie is a Principal Research Scientist with the Crops Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-CRI) Kumasi, Ghana. He is an Agronomist/Crop Physiologist. Prof. Berchie is a lecturer in Agronomy/Crop Physiology at the CSIR Graduate College of Science and Technology. Prof. Berchie obtained his first degree in Agriculture (Crop Science) at the University of Ghana, Legon-Accra, Ghana in 1986. He pursued his MSc in Agronomy from the University of Nottingham UK in 1996. Prof. Berchie obtained his PhD in Agronomy (Crop Physiology) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana with a six-month PhD studentship at the University of Guelph, Canada in 2010.
Between 2011-2013, Prof. Joseph Nketiah Berchie was elected as the National President of the Research Staff Association of over 500 scientists from 13 Institutes under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Ghana. Between 2015 and present, Prof. Berchie has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Agricultural and Food Science Journal of Ghana, a Journal of the CSIR-Crops Research Institute. Prof. Berchie has been a member of numerous Committees and has held a number of positions in Social and Religious Circles in Ghana. He has been a panellist on GTV/GCR 92.1 and LUV FM 99.5 Social Discussions in Kumasi, Ghana.
Prof. Joseph Nketiah Berchie has 90 publications to his credit comprising Refereed Journal Papers, Edited Conference Papers, Technical Reports, Manuals and hand Books, Factsheets and Chapters in books. Prof. Berchie is married with Two Biological and Five Foster children.
